Descriptions: The Department of Learning and Instruction in the Graduate School of Education at the University at Buffalo (UB), The State University of New York seeks a scholar in Early Childhood Development and Education for a tenure-track position. Candidates will be considered at the Associate/Full professor level.

The successful candidate must have an active research program in early childhood development and education, and a strong track record of publishing and securing external research funding. Although the specific area of research is open, we are particularly interested in candidates who are engaged in developmental research on one or more of the following topics:

1. the intersection between mind, brain, behavior, and learning
2. young children in urban settings, ethnic minority and/or immigrant families, or families affected by disabilities
3. social-emotional, behavioral, or cognitive development in early childhood
4. early learning environments, both in the home and in child care settings
5. early childhood education policy, intervention, or effectiveness research
6. school readiness and the transition to elementary school

Preferences: Preference will be given to candidates:

1. whose research program can be integrated into our new multidisciplinary doctoral program: Curriculum, Instruction, and the Science of Learning (CISL)
2. who have experience and expertise directing centers like the ECRC at UB or early childhood/childhood teacher education programs

We welcome candidates from a range of methodological traditions, particularly those with a strong background in quantitative methods, and employing a range of methodologies including, but not limited to, observational, experimental, design-based research, and mixed-method approaches.

Description: The Department of Special Education, Language and Literacy seeks dynamic candidates for an assistant professor, tenure-track position commencing August 2015. Description: The Curriculum and Instruction Department Chairperson will be responsible for advancing the national recognition and impact of our Ph. D and Ed. Description: The Department of Teaching & Learning is seeking a nine-month, full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor with an active program of classroom-focused, language arts-related research and a commitment to excellence in teaching. In particular, we are looking for candidates who bring expertise in the language arts in primary-grade (K-4) culturally and linguistically diverse urban classrooms. Description: As part of the Center for Education and Human Services, the Early Childhood Researcher will assume major roles on teams working to provide technical assistance on early childhood data systems, improve the quality of child outcomes data collected in states, and use data for program improvement; and support state special education and early intervention programs in the implementation of systems change efforts to improve results for young children and their families. Duties will include supporting states in quantitative and qualitative analysis of existing data; working collaboratively with other TA centers; developing products to support states in data analysis and interpretation; and writing reports, guidance documents and proposals. Depending on seniority, responsibilities also will include developing and leading new projects, maintaining client relations, designing research and evaluation studies, and presenting findings to outside audiences.

Requirements: Requires experience with quantitative and qualitative data analysis, instrument design, data collection, early childhood development, early childhood special education, early intervention, and early childhood programs. Must have substantive expertise in a field such as education, public health, special education, early childhood development, or human services. Outstanding writing, speaking, and project management skills and the ability to work collaboratively are required. Prefer experience and background in issues related to special education, assessment of young children, implementation science, state and local systems of early intervention and special education service delivery, and federal data collections for Part C and Part B 619 programs. General Statement of Duties: This full-time tenure-track faculty member will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in early childhood education and program administration; advise undergraduate students; collaborate with colleagues on program and school-wide projects. Position: Executive Director of the Child Study and Development Center (CSDC) & Clinical Faculty (Open Rank) position  in theDepartment of Family Studies.  The majority of this Clinical non-tenure position requires the administration of the CSDC. The administrative responsibilities include maintaining the CSDC’s position as a leader in childcare, the field of early childhood education, and university laboratory schools; working with potential donors; advocating for children and families; and providing leadership to the CSDC staff. Responsibilities for clinical faculty in Family Studies include advising and supervising undergraduate and graduate students, teaching undergraduate/graduate courses in teaching methods and child development, and serving on committees.

Qualifications: An earned doctorate in child development, early childhood education, or a related field is required. A successful candidate will have a proven record of administrative experience demonstrated by vision and strategic planning, and budget and staff management skills within early childhood settings.
