Assistant Professor in ECE at California State University, Fresno

Description: The Department of Literacy, Early, Bilingual and Special Education (LEBSE) invites applications for a tenure­track Early Childhood Education (ECE) faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank. Responsibilities include providing leadership in the Joyce M. Huggins Early Education Center, a nationally recognized demonstration, training, and research center in the Kremen School of Education and Human Development; teaching courses in Fresno State’s ECE teacher credential and graduate programs; developing a research agenda and engaging in scholarly activity; and engaging in service­related activities.

Qualifications: The successful candidate must hold a doctorate in Early Childhood Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Child Development, or a related field. Candidates nearing completion of the the doctorate (ABD) may be considered; however, the doctorate and verification must be completed by August 1, 2018.

Assistant Professor of Early Childhood/Elementary Education at Rowan University

Description: The College of Education is searching for a highly qualified and experienced early childhood/elementary education professional to engage in collaborative research with faculty and initiate research projects for external funding, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and to participate in service initiatives, particularly new program development and initiatives in a growing and diverse region of early childhood and elementary systems. The starting date is September 1, 2017.

Assistant/Associate Professor in Early Literacy at Stanford University

Description: The Stanford Graduate School of Education is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate rank member in the area of early literacy, with a focus on early reading.

Assistant/Associate Professor in Transforming Special Education at University of California, San Diego

Among other areas of research we seek are a focus on transformational teaching practices and teacher development, and how factors such as race, ethnicity, and gender determine not only the diagnosis and school placement of students with disabilities but also their school performance. As we work to transform special education, we are looking for a colleague who understands and challenges long-held deficit paradigms of special education and instead develops student centered, socially mediated teaching and learning that promote social justice for students with disabilities.

Description: The College of Education seeks an advanced junior, mid-level or senior scholar with broad expertise on the potential and challenges of using digital literacies and computational media to overcome the marginalization of linguistically diverse learners, with a special focus on immigrant populations. This position is part of an interdisciplinary cluster hire initiative in Technology Enhanced Language Learning (TELL) jointly developed by faculty from the Colleges of Education, Humanities and the Social and Behavioral Sciences. The ideal candidate will have an established research agenda focusing on the sociocultural contexts of language and literacy use and development in new media environments. Scholars might study, for instance, ways that emerging technologies are creating affordances for immigrant/indigenous youth to expand multimodal repertoires, develop new forms of global citizenship and agency, find new avenues of technological and social inclusion, and/or work across ideological, social and linguistic borders, even as new technologies create new issues of equity. Alternatively, scholars applying for this position might focus on educational efforts to increase bi/multilingual immigrant learners’ language and literacy competencies through online communication and/or media production.
