Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Early Childhood Development & Education at Kansas State University

Description: Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, 9 month, tenure track position, School of Family Studies and Human Services, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS. Qualifications: Required: An earned doctorate in human development, developmental psychology, or related area with expertise in child development; professional experience in an early childhood setting serving all children, including children with special needs; potential for scholarly research, external funding, quality teaching, and service.

Assistant/Associate Professor in ECE at Oakland University

Description: An Assistant or Associate Professor, tenure-track position opening in the Department of Human Development and Child Studies at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in early childhood education or a closely related discipline. Preferred qualifications include expertise in early childhood education and early intervention, some teaching and advising experience with graduate students, and scholarly publications or presentations. Candidates should have strength in research methodology, including qualitative or quantitative design and analysis.

Responsibilities: The Assistant/Associate Professor responsibilities will include active leadership in the department’s program development and assessment. The Assistant/Associate Professor is expected to be productive in an area of scholarship and to maintain a program of research activities. Although no specific research focus is earmarked, the interests of faculty and students include early social development, language and literacy, constructivist curriculum for young children, leadership and professional development, cultural influences, transition to kindergarten, quality early care and education for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, early intervention for at-risk children and families, and inclusion of children with special needs in early childhood settings. Assistant Professor of Special Education With an Emphasis in Early Childhood Education at Eastern Connecticut State University

2 Tenure-Track Assistant Professors of Early Childhood & Elementary Education at Portland State University

Description: The Curriculum and Instruction department is seeking to hire two tenure-track faculty members with background and experience in accredited curriculum and instruction, early childhood and/or initial teacher preparation degree programs who can teach graduate-level initial teacher preparation elementary education courses, and/or early childhood and curriculum and instruction advanced degree and doctoral specialty courses. We are most interested in faculty members who specialize in one or more of the following areas: Early childhood and/or elementary: Math, science, technology, integrated methods, arts education, STEM, second language acquisition, and/or developing classroom climate.
Applicants should have a record that shows promise of success in teaching, research, and community outreach and ability to foster community relationships and engage in in-person and online learning collaboratively with students, community partners, staff, and colleagues. Applicants should have a minimum of three years of direct classroom work in early childhood and/or elementary classrooms (preK-Grade 6). We are particularly seeking individuals who want to focus scholarly work on the student of teacher preparation and partnerships with PK-12 schools.
Full-time faculty within the Graduate School of Education have a combined teaching/research/service assignment of 45 credit hours or credit hour equivalents per 9-month academic year (27-instructional credit hours and 9-credit hour equivalencies each for service and scholarly activities).

Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include:

  • Earned doctorate in early childhood, elementary education, curriculum and instruction or equivalent from an accredited program by time of start date.

Clinical Associate Professor & Executive Director of Education Programs Jean Tyson Child Development Study Center at University of Arkansas

Description: The School of Human Environmental Sciences at the University of Arkansas seeks applications for a 12-month, non-tenure-track Clinical Associate Professor and Executive Director of Education Programs of the NAEYC-accredited Jean Tyson Child Development Study Center (JTCDSC). This visionary leader will have child-center philosophy and practice that is focused on the critical first years of human development. The Director of Education Programs must foster the three-fold mission of the JTCDSC by 1) providing the leadership needed for quality early childhood education, 2) maintaining an optimal environment in which to train Early Childhood Education (e.g., Birth through Kindergarten) undergraduate and graduate students, and 3) collaborating with both intra- and inter-departmental faculty on cutting edge research.
This leader will promote an atmosphere of professionalism, inspiration, compassion, and sensitivity to the diverse needs of the children, families, and staff at the JTCDSC that guides the academic program of both children and university students and provides an environment that enables rigorous evidence-based inquiry of best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, in collaborative way, the management of all aspects of the children’s program in order to foster the three-fold mission of the JTCDSC.
  • Work in partnership with faculty to facilitate the successful use of the JTCDSC by its interconnected stakeholders, including children and their parents, center teachers and staff, students and faculty of the UA Birth through Kindergarten and other degree programs, and faculty researchers.
  • Ensure JTCDSC program quality to maintain NAEYC accreditation and to facilitate the training of future ECE professionals. Lead NAEYC re-accreditation efforts.
  • Hire and evaluate quality teaching staff, guiding teachers as they create individual professional development plans, and providing on-going staff mentoring and training.
  • Work with families and support family-centered practices. Welcome and tour prospective families, make initial acceptance contacts, make key enrollment decisions, manage home visits, and provide on-going support and education to JTCDSC parents.
  • Collaborate on research utilizing the JTCDSC which results in presentations, publications, and extramural grant proposals.

Qualifications: Required qualifications include:

  • Doctorate in Early Childhood Education (birth through kindergarten focus required) or related field
  • Evidence of leadership and administrative skills, including strong oral and written communication skills, effective advocacy and collaboration at the University, community and state levels, expert coaching abilities and supervisory experience with ECE professionals and paraprofessionals, and sensitivity for the needs of children, families, and staff.
  • Awareness of the current trend to professionalize the early childhood education as a field of practice and demonstrated ability to lead JTCDSC as a positive force in that quest.
  • Minimum three years of experience as a director of early childhood (birth through kindergarten) laboratory school or a school that provides a teaching function for college-level students on a full day, full year basis.
  • Ability to serve as a role model for professional development as both a member of and a participant in key early childhood professional organizations
  • Willingness to receive 20 hours of training/year and to present at early childhood events as part of the service component of the position

Preferred qualifications include:
  • Experience as an early childhood classroom teacher.
  • History of successful fundraising and/or grant writing

As a senior faculty member, the candidate is expected to conduct research related to learning technologies; secure extramural funding to support their research; teach a reduced number of current and/or new graduate courses in the Learning Technologies program; advise MA and Ph.D. students; and participate in Department, College, and professional service activities. As Executive Director, the candidate would oversee the new Learning Technologies Center. The vision for the new College center will include an increased emphasis on the development of e-learning (e.g., programs and courses), new initiatives that would foster the culture of e-learning and learning technologies within the College (broadly defined, but which could include such areas as distance education, K-12 technology integration, mobile learning, and digital equity and policy), as well as work collaboratively with the College Office of Information Technology and the university Office of Distance Education and eLearning (ODEE). The Executive Director will help guide the Center into national prominence in Learning Technologies. The Executive Director is responsible for the planning of new initiatives, providing leadership in research related to the Center, and oversight of extant services (which currently include an interim Director, 5-7 staff members, and concomitant budget). The current team provides resources and services to faculty and students, such as technology tools, instructional design, and multimedia production.

Qualifications: Doctorate in a field closely related to Learning Technologies (e.g., Educational Technology, Instructional Technology). The successful candidate’s research will be theoretically grounded in a relevant discipline (e.g., economics, organizational theory, political science, public policy, sociology, history or statistics) and will use sophisticated quantitative or qualitative methodologies (e.g., econometric methodologies leading to causal inference, randomized control trials, case studies, ethnographies, survey design, and mixed-methods).
